What's New?

PSC is changing its ways....of communication

At the Fall meeting Prairie State Canoeists Board adopted a plan to revise the methods of communication used by the club in an effort to reduce expenses and still maintain our current level of enthusiasm and participation. The plan includes reducing the number of printed newsletters from 6 to 4 issues and the introduction of electronic newletters and e-mail notifications along with more periodic updates to the website. The plan will be revisited pending feedback from the membership. The full details are on page 8 of the December 2009 - January 2010 Newsletter.

This creates new opportunities for members to volunteer! If you have ideas or information, send it along to our communications team.

February-March Newsletter is available on-line

It's time to pay your Dues!

PSC operates on a calendar year. This means that everyone's membership needs be renewed each January, regardless of when you joined. If you have a question about the status of your membership, contact the Membership Secretary. By paying your dues promptly, you not only save money, but it will ensure that your name will appear in the directory and that you will not miss any issues of the newsletter. Your renewal must be received by March 3 in order for you to be included in the annual directory and receive further newsletters.

About the Club

Established in 1971, Prairie State Canoeists (PSC) continues to be one of the Midwest's largest clubs with approximately 500 family memberships. Most members live in the Chicagoland area. The club sponsors over 100 trips a year (flat water and whitewater). Day-trips are common, and multi-day trips may include camping. ACA-certified instructors conduct a series of annual training trips for club members of all skill levels. The club's major concerns are clean rivers, river access, and improving put-ins and take-outs on rivers across the upper Midwest. Read more...
