Prairie State Canoeists
A Northeast Illinois Canoe and Kayak Club
Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2017 Leader: Darrel Grove Location: Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith Street, Palatine, IL The Chicago Whitewater Association is hosting the 2017 Reel Paddling Film Festival on Wed, March 29th..
Ticket prices are the same as last year: $12 in advance; $15 on the day of the event. Go to Ticket River for tickets. All ages show. Cash bar and food available.
The location is the same as last year but a few changes were made to improve this year's experience. First, we were able to secure both the upstairs and main floor so it will be easier to hear the emcee and film soundtracks (last year there was spillover noise from the trivia night group upstairs). Secondly, we are opening the upstairs at 6:00 pm for dinner and drinks before the show.
Rapid Media's 12th annual Film Festival showcases the world's best paddling films to audiences in Canada, the US and around the world. The festival inspires more people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the lifestyle and appreciate the heritage of the wild places we paddle
The film contest awards winners in 10 categories and then tours the films to more than 120 cities and 30,000 outdoor adventure enthusiasts.
Doors open for the upstairs at 6:00. Doors for the main floor open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:00. We will be showing 2 1/2 hours of kayaking, canoeing, conservation and other watersport films.
