Date(s): June 15 - 17, 2018 Leader: Paul Klonowski Co-Leader: Tracy Hunt Location: Pine Lake Camp, Westfield, WI Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced Category: Instruction Details: The Wisconsin Canoe Symposium (WCS) is an enjoyable weekend where you can receive coaching in a quiet water setting from experienced, ACA-certified instructors who will assess your skills and lead you on the path to improvement at your own pace. The location is approximately 60 minutes north of Madison, Wisconsin.
Courses will be available for all skill levels in both solo and tandem open canoe, including Introduction, Touring, Advanced Touring, and Interpretive Freestyle. WCS also offers a "Creeking Freestyle" course on a section of the nearby Mecan River.
The student-to-instructor ratio is limited to 5 to 1. Bring your own canoe, paddle and PFD; rentals will be available on a very limited, first-come-first-served basis.
Arrive as early as Thursday evening and paddle through Sunday noon. Accommodations include motel style rooms, bunkhouses and camping (with or without electric hookup). Pine Lake's various camp activities, such as archery and low ropes, will be available to symposium participnts and registered family and guests. Meals can be on your own, or are available throughout the event in the very sociable setting of the camp's dining hall.
