18.5 miles on the scenic Des Plaines River. This is the 68th consecurtive year of the race, founded by Ralph Frese in 1957. Start Line in Libertyville, Finish at Dam#2, Mt Prospect. See www.canoemarathon.com for details and to sign up for the race. For the less experienced, there is the Minithon, 5.25 mi starting at Potawatomie Woods, Wheeling.
