Chuck & Lynora Jensen, and Mike & Ana Croak joined the LCFPD River Stewardship Volunteers for a "Short" workday on the Des Plaines River.  The plan was to launch at our tool shed, just north of Gurnee, work our way upriver until the water level got too low, then work downstream to Gowe Park in Gurnee.  We covered a whopping two miles... and it took us 4&1/2 hours...  

Chuck took command of the automotive division, collecting three tires, a wheel, foam for a bench seat, parts of an exhaust system, and some framework for the chassis of the new car he's building.  Oh, and I do think the large tarp will suffice for the convertible top.  

We also cleaned up some more of an old dump site, where erosion had exposed more broken glass, kitchenware, and other broken collectibles.  And of course there was the unending load of small litter... 

It was a day well spent; many thanks to Lynora, Chuck, Ana & Tom for your help.  It is much appreciated!
