A group of 16 paddlers came out on this fine Sunday morning, to paddle through Naperville on the West Branch of the DuPage. Putting in at the “Three Diamonds” launch spot (Will-o-way Commons at Stauffer and Hidden Spring), we found water levels a little low, but negotiable. (75 cfs at 4.6 feet, Naperville Gauge). It’s always fun to rush through Centennial Rapid and float along the Naperville Riverwalk on a Sunday with the carillon chiming overhead. Our group included several new members and a good mix of kayaks and canoes, including a few of us in tandems. After a quick lunch at Pioneer Park, we let the brisk current whisk us to our take-out at Knoch Knolls Park, covering a total distance of about 7 miles. Thanks to car shuttle drivers Dan Kohler, Larry Jacklin, and Rodrigo Lau, and to Paul Clifford for driver return. It was a pleasure to meet new members and share a gorgeous day on the river.
