After a 9:30 car shift, a short paddle (about 7 miles) from Knoch Knolls Park on the south side of Naperville. Expecting a brisk current after flooding earlier in the week, we were not disappointed, especially in the early miles of the West Branch up to the confluence. From that junction with the East Branch, things slowed down a bit as the river widens. The Naperville gauge read (400 cfs at 6.0 feet, and dropping, at put-in time. On a sunny day with temperatures in the 80’s, our group of 11 paddlers, mostly in kayaks, made quick progress to the lunch stop at Riverview Farmstead near 111th St. . A few more miles brought us to the take-out at Eaton Preserve off 135th St. by about 1:30. Thanks to car shuttle drivers Dan Kohler and Russell Block.
