I’ve been a member of Prairie State longer than most but have rarely been on scheduled trips, especially lately. I find solo canoeing more refreshing, more opportunity for nature observing. At advanced age it has been necessary to sell standard canoes and buy something of less weight to be able to horse it around myself. I find the solo Prism made by Wenonah an ideal canoe. It is long enough to be efficient and narrow enough to use a double blade paddle going back upstream to where you want to be. Initial stability, though, (not great) does require being careful when entering and exiting to avoiding capsize. I often take this canoe on day trips or camping with dog.
